Nearly 25 million Americans have diabetes. The chances that you or someone you care about has diabetes are great. That is why Gritman Medical Center staffs a complete Diabetes Education team to help you understand and control your diabetes.
Successful self-management of diabetes includes monitoring of blood-sugar, nutrition, exercise and, if needed, medication. At Gritman, you will work with our certified diabetes educator, dietitians, nurses and exercise specialists to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle. We provide education at beginning and advanced levels.
Our diabetes education team is available for individual and group counseling. To schedule an appointment, call (208) 883-6341. We encourage your family to be involved in your diabetes care program. This service is provided not only at Gritman Medical Center, but also at Whitman Hospital and Medical Center in Colfax.
Free monthly diabetes education classes are offered on a variety of topics. These classes are the first Tuesday of every month at Gritman Medical Center. Check our calendar of events for details about the next class.
Has your doctor used the term pre-diabetes to describe your condition? This means you are at high risk of developing diabetes and that careful attention should be paid to your health. Our diabetes education team can help you develop a healthcare plan that is specific to your needs and help you curtail diabetes.
