Gritman Medical Center supports breast feeding as the best source of nutrition for newborns. To help our new mothers succeed, we have a Certified Lactation Consultant as well as several nurses who are Certified Lactation Counselors. Our lactation specialists are available to answer questions and help nursing moms even after discharge from the hospital.
A few days after discharge, mom and baby will return to Gritman for a post clinic. During this time a physical assessment and vital signs are done on both you and your baby. The baby is weighed and his or her bilirubin level is checked. This is a time for you to ask questions. It is also a good time for lactation assistance. If needed, your physician is notified and an appointment is made for a follow-up in your physician’s office.
Our new moms support group meets each Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Martin Wellness Center, 510 W. Palouse River Drive, Moscow. This program is free and open to all new moms. Registration is not required.
Enjoy a relaxed setting with discussions facilitated by the Child and Family Services Coordinator. We offer information and support on topics including infant care and development, breastfeeding and feeding, parenting, post partum care, crying, family relationships and more. We have fun sharing ideas, doing holiday projects and chatting about motherhood.
Resources and support are based on current research in the field of early learning and child development. For more information contact Teresa at (208) 883-6399 or email@example.com.
