One of the best ways to have a positive surgical experience is to be well-prepared. A few days prior to surgery you will have a pre-admission appointment. Here, blood work will be done and you will meet with a nurse to review the surgery and recovery, ask questions and fill out paperwork. Please review our pre-op instructions.
Companionship is proven to aid in healing. Gritman encourages visitors and also recognizes recovery from surgery is the focus. As long as patient conditions and recovery room status allows, you are invited to have one visitor in the recovery room at a time. Children are discouraged from visiting in the recovery room but are allowed once you return to your room.
If it is your child having surgery, you will be invited into the recovery room at the earliest possible time.
Following c-sections, both dad and baby are returned to the recovery room as soon as possible.
A waiting room is always open and is located adjacent to the same-day surgery area. Please ask any hospital staff member if you are unable to find the waiting room.
Flowers and gifts are available at Bertie’s Gift Shoppe.
All of our operating room nurses are either certified or working toward board testing for certification, even though certification is not mandatory. All our surgical techs are certified and we use Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists to deliver anesthesia.
