Gritman Medical Center’s full service Clinical Laboratory is staffed by medical technologists and medical technicians certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, and fully trained phlebotomists. The laboratory is open 24 hours a day every day of the week, and no appointment is necessary for most procedures.

Using the latest in technology, the medical technologists perform a full range of specimen analyses in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, transfusion medicine, urinalysis, coagulation and immunology. Our primary hematology analyzer is interfaced to our hospital computer system and differentiates white blood cells by laser technology. Our chemistry analyzer is also interfaced and uses micro volume samples for analysis.

We provide testing for patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings with courier service to local physicians. Several local veterinarians refer animal specimens to us for testing. We have also been involved with many research projects from both the University of Idaho and Washington State University. This has proven to be a cost effective mechanism for researchers to obtain accurate and precise results without the expense of costly analytical equipment.
