Growing to Serve You: A Place of Your Own

There is a place inside Gritman Medical Center with a truly unique environment. Rooms are spacious and inviting with a soothing décor, privacy is exceptional, technology is top-notch and a completely female staff treats each patient with the utmost dignity and respect. The place is our Patricia J. Kempthorne Women’s Imaging Center, the only one of its kind in the area. Here, women can get the essential diagnostic services they need in the privacy and comfort of a place all their own. Behind closed doors, away from the hustle and bustle of the busy hospital, women are able to take proactive steps toward their own wellness in a quiet and relaxed space.

The preventative screenings offered in the Women’s Imaging Center are critical in lowering a woman’s risk of breast cancer or osteoporosis. Truly a state-of-the-art facility, the Center is designed not only to meet the needs of our female patients, but also to provide an optimum working environment for our technologists and radiologists. With a complete array of diagnostic and support equipment, the Center is able to perform numerous women’s services including mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, needle localization breast biopsy, osteoporosis screening and ultrasound. To assist our expert and professional staff, the department also boasts a CADx Second Look computer aided detection system and mammography reporting system.

The Women’s Imaging Center, now located in the newest wing of the hospital, was once located off-site on Washington Street. The move back into the main hospital in 2004 has improved accessibility for patients, increased staff interaction with physicians and provided much needed additional space. Patricia J. Kempthorne herself was on hand to introduce this exciting new area to our community during our Grand Opening Ceremonies on July 1, 2004. Mrs. Kempthorne is known for her advocacy and awareness efforts regarding the early detection of breast cancer. Early detection of breast cancer and osteoporosis are critical in giving women the best opportunity to live healthy and full lives.
