2024-25 Connections Letter from Leadership

President and CEO Kara Besst
While the equipment has advanced and our locations of service have grown, our 127-year mission to provide extraordinary care to the people in our communities has not changed.
In June 2024, through the hard work of teams across the organization, every Gritman hospital and clinic location upgraded to a new Electronic Health Record – OCHIN Epic – that allows for improved communication and quality of care for our patients, providers, and team members.
Epic, along with its patient portal called MyChart, is the nation’s leading Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. Implementation of this new EHR is the culmination of two years of strategic planning to ensure Gritman patients have the most up-to-date resources when making their health care decisions.
Epic is one of several exciting updates across the Gritman System over the past year. As you’ll read in this issue of Connections Magazine, we have grown in our ability to treat patients by expanding our orthopedic services. More patients are getting back to the activities they enjoy thanks to our Orthopedic Sports Medicine team. That team also that maintains the highest possible standards for quality and patient outcomes through our Joint Commission-Certified hip and knee replacement program.
Our mission states that we are here to provide extraordinary care to the people in our communities. While Gritman already serves patients from clinics across Latah County, this fall we were fortunate to expand into the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley with the opening of our Warrior Health clinic that serves the students at Lewis-Clark State College. The opening of Warrior Health is one of many projects to expand services, including a complete renovation and modernization of our Troy Family Medicine clinic and our future expansion of Gritman Therapy Solutions to 409 S. Jackson St. in Moscow – all aimed at ensuring our community has exceptional care options throughout the care continuum.
Our mission hasn’t changed but, as you’ll read in the following pages, I’m pleased to report that our ability to carry out that mission continues to progress.
Thank you for allowing Gritman Medical Center to care for you and your loved ones
Sincerely,
Kara Besst
