Gritman Expands to Serve LC State Patient Population

Led by Victoria Cruz, Warrior Health Builds on Exceptional Care Across Gritman System

Gritman and Lewis-Clark State College have partnered to provide exceptional care to the Lewiston campus community with the opening of Warrior Health.

Led by Nurse Practitioner and Warrior alumna Victoria Cruz, Warrior Health is a full-service, on-campus clinic serving LC State students and staff from the Sam Glenn Complex.

“I love this community and look forward to providing care to the staff and students at LCSC,” she said.

The clinic is Gritman’s first in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley and an exciting complement to the full-range of care provided throughout Gritman hospital and clinic locations across Latah County.

Cruz sees patients for everything from preventative care, routine office visits, acute illnesses, routine prescriptions, and immunizations.

Students also have access to the full range of medical services offered by Gritman Medical Center, as needed and directed by their health care provider.

“I really feel that I can make an impact on this patient population, helping them navigate through the stressors, and the normal changes that will happen when they’re attending college,” she said. “You will have older individuals, nontraditional students, and the younger population.”

Whether she’s helping a patient manage their A1C, working on pain management or discussing preventative medicine, Cruz said it is rewarding to help her patients accomplish their goals.

Gritman and LC State are partnering to provide exceptional care to Warrior students and staff in Lewiston.

“Preventative health care is essential to longevity,” she said. “Having consistency over time while a student and beyond, whether you’re driving in from out of town or local and on campus, we’re here to help.”

Originally from Orofino, Cruz received a nursing degree from Lewis-Clark State and later earned her Master’s in Nursing from Maryville University of St. Louis. Cruz comes to Gritman after practicing Family Medicine as a Nurse Practitioner in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley for several years, previously working as a Registered Nurse in both Orofino and Boise. She is Board Certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Cruz finds satisfaction in helping her patients see a positive impact on their health.

“I try to individualize each appointment to the patient’s specific needs,” she said. “Look at them not as a big list of people but try to take an individualistic approach.”

Outside of medicine, Cruz enjoys spending time with her family, including her two children. Her family also enjoys the outdoors, and Cruz is an avid baseball fan.
