Dr. Lee Hixson treats patients at the Gritman General Surgeons and Gastroenterology clinic in Moscow. He received his medical degree in 1980 from the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City. He completed his internship and his residency, both in Internal Medicine, at the University of Utah School of Medicine. His fellowship in Gastroenterology was completed at the University of Arizona School of Medicine in Tucson. He is Board-Certified in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. In addition to performing endoscopes and colonoscopies for polyp and cancer detection, Dr. Hixson specializes in treating both acute and chronic GI problems.

Dr. Hixson’s interest in human biology is what led him to a career in medicine. He was the lead investigator for the first published study determining the accuracy of colonoscopy for polyp detection. In 2018, he received the Clinical Teaching Excellence Award from the University of Idaho WWAMI Medical Education Program.
Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Hixson enjoys blueberry farming.
