Dr. Carson Barnes Joins Gritman’s Family Medicine Team
We can be inundated with information when seeking answers to our health care questions. Dr. Carson Barnes wants to help his patients filter out the noise, ensuring they can work toward the best possible health care outcome.
“I enjoy seeing people grow to the full potential that they can and using medicine to allow people to live their fullest lives,” he said. “I really enjoy the long-term care, to see how people are able to grow and change to achieve their goals.”
Dr. Barnes joins Gritman’s Moscow Family Medicine Downtown Clinic as a Family Medicine provider. He finds fulfillment in being able to care for entire families – from moms and babies to siblings and parents to grandparents – over the course of their daily lives. One of his most important roles is helping draw from the abundance of information a patient can present with, and filtering more serious concerns from daily health questions.
“A family care doctor that is accessible to their patients is so important, especially now with all of the health information that is available,” he said. “Someone to walk along side of you throughout the ups and downs of life can help alleviate the stress of the ‘what ifs’ of life while also identifying dangerous signs and symptoms before they have time to cause lasting harm.”
Dr. Barnes was initially drawn to medicine because of the science of it, a bond that was further reinforced when he was able to practice the science of medicine while building relationships with his patients.
“I really enjoy the applications of the science to the relationships that we are able to form,” he said. “In particular, across the spectrum of their lives and develop relationships that will last for years and years.”
Originally from South Carolina, Dr. Barnes attended Duke University and the Medical University of South Carolina. He was introduced to the region through the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho in Boise, which further piqued his interest in obstetrics and gastroenterology. Dr. Barnes joins our Moscow Family Medicine Downtown Clinic as a Family Medicine provider focusing on Primary Care across the lifespan.
Dr. Barnes is married to Dr. Emily Barnes, who is also joining the Gritman System as a Family Medicine and Obstetrics physician. The two met while undergraduates at Duke University in North Carolina.
He is eager to form bonds with his patients and their families. Dr. Barnes is also eager to return to an agricultural community similar to where he grew up in South Carolina.
Outside of medicine, the Barneses enjoy the outdoor activities that come with living on the Palouse and in the Northwest, along with traveling.
Dr. Barnes sees patients at Gritman’s Moscow Family Medicine Downtown Clinic, 623 S. Main St., Moscow. Call 208-882-2011 to make an appointment.
