Nurse Residency Program - Gritman Medical Center

Nurse Residency Program

Gain Vital Training, Work Alongside Experienced Teams

Nurse Residents are recent nursing program graduates who enter into full-time, benefited positions at Gritman Medical Center. Graduate nurses can apply directly to a nurse resident position in a unit of their interest that has an opening with a planned start date after they pass the NCLEX. This allows for time to focus on studying and passing the exam. Once graduates pass the NCLEX, they will begin onboarding at Gritman in their unit.

While orienting to their new unit, the graduate nurse will be enrolled in a three-month nurse residency program that provides supplemental support and education through in-person classroom sessions. Nurse Resident training includes courses on Career Development, Professionalism, Compassion Resilience, Ethical Dilemmas, Critical Thinking, Code Simulations and more! Training is a mix of in-person lecture, skills and simulation, with some online coursework blended in. Knowledge assessments, confidence surveys and critical judgment exercises help us incorporate additional content to meet the needs of residents.

Program Length: Three-month program with continued employment at Gritman after graduating from the program.

Each Nurse Resident will engage in group mentorship with educators in the Nurse Residency program. They will have the option to be paired with an additional mentor who does not work on the floor. This ensures neutral responses, feedback, and support during their transition into their nursing practice.
