Moscow Volunteer Fire Department Truck
Moscow Volunteer Fire Department personnel were called to Gritman Medical Center this morning because of smoke in the 1994 wing of the downtown Moscow hospital. All patients being treated in the hospital are safe and accommodations were made to move patients in impacted areas to other areas of the building.
Gritman briefly diverted new patients to other area hospitals while crews investigated the incident. Fire personnel determined the fire to be mechanical in nature and pinpointed its source to the 1994 wing of the hospital.
Staff in impacted areas of the hospital evacuated the building while the incident was investigated by fire crews. Everyone was able to safely return to the hospital after about an hour, upon clearance by fire department personnel.
Patients impacted by the evacuation will be contacted to reschedule their appointments. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the incident.
Gritman would like to thank our hospital staff and our partners at both the Moscow Volunteer Fire Department and Pullman Fire Department for their swift and thorough response to this incident.
