Internal Medicine Physician Dr. Sarah Kwate Lawrence Joins Gritman System
Dr. Sarah Kwate Lawrence is joining the team at Gritman Internal Medicine and Troy Family Medicine to provide exceptional, empathetic care in the community where she grew up.
An Internal Medicine physician, Dr. Lawrence specializes in treating medically complex older adults, has a strong passion for primary and preventative care, and sees the long-term relationships she gets to have with her patients as the most rewarding part of her job.
“My passion is in complex older adult medicine — and then chronic disease management and preventative health care,” she said.
Dr. Lawrence was born and raised in Troy and completed the entirety of her medical training in Idaho with a focus on rural medicine through the Idaho WWAMI Medical Education Program at the University of Washington School of Medicine and later the University of Washington Internal Medicine Residency – Boise Program.
She was inspired to pursue a career in medicine because her parents had connections to health care. Now providing that care herself, she said she couldn’t imagine anything better than coming home to live in the area she loves and take care of the people and community that raised her.
She was recently awarded an Idaho Future Physicians Award from the Idaho Medical Association for her commitment to practicing medicine in Idaho and her unique skillset that will help her serve patients in our community.
Dr. Lawrence sees patients at the Troy Family Medicine Clinic on Tuesdays and spends Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at Gritman Internal Medicine in Moscow. She finds the most rewarding part of her job to be the continuity of care — forming a relationship with patients over time. She is passionate about finding creative solutions for patients with complex medical situations, with the end result being an improvement in their quality of life.
In her spare time, Dr. Lawrence loves spending time with her husband, family, and very large dog, Hank, as well as camping, hiking, and exploring the mountains in their off-road Jeep.
