Dr. Bryan D. Smith Joins Gritman Urology
Experienced Palouse Urologist Dr. Bryan D. Smith is joining the Gritman System as the newest addition to our integrated care network.
Dr. Smith leads a new Gritman Urology practice that provides comprehensive care for a wide range of conditions, including everything from kidney stones and BPH to urinary tract infections and incontinence. The practice also performs a full host of urologic surgeries that are associated with cancer.
The practice’s areas of care include:
- Kidney Stones
- Urinary Tract Infections
- Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
- Kidney and Prostate Surgeries
Dr. Smith takes pride in being able to get folks back to a normal life through his services. Whether it’s a urinary tract infection or a kidney stone to cancer of the prostate, kidney or bladder, Dr. Smith said both he and his patients can be reassured about the practice’s ability to provide continuity of care.
“Being able to deal with the same provider over time provides a rapport that I can build with patients and makes it easier to transition from one thing to the next because I know their history and I’m able to integrate any new issue into that,” he said.
The practice operates with assistance from the Da Vinci Surgical System, an advanced and minimally invasive robotic solution that optimizes patient outcomes and accelerates recovery times for kidney and prostate patients.
“Now that we’re bringing Da Vinci robotics to Gritman, we’ll be able to provide a full service of surgical options, all the way up through robotic surgery,” he said.
Certain kidney and prostate surgeries can be done more efficiently with the robotic-assisted solution. Gritman’s acquisition of a Da Vinci device allows more patients to stay on the Palouse without having to travel long distances for care.
Board-certified by the American Board of Urology, Dr. Smith most recently practiced for nine years with Palouse Urology. Palouse Urology is part of Palouse Specialty Physicians, a health care partnership of Gritman Medical Center, Pullman Regional Hospital and Whitman Hospital and Clinics in Colfax.
The Gritman Urology clinic is in the same space as the previous Palouse Urology clinic, meaning existing patients won’t have to change offices or doctors while getting the care they need.
Gritman Urology is a department of Gritman Medical Center and is located near the hospital’s south entrance at 700 S. Main St. Patients can ask their primary care provider for a referral to Gritman Urology. Call the practice at 208-883-1846.
