Pre-Payment Service Collections

Gritman May Request Partial Payment at Time of Service

Gritman Medical Center may request pre-payment for certain elective procedures. Pre-payment amounts are estimated based on your insurance plan, the percentage of that plan already used in a calendar year, as well as any pending insurance claims.

Each estimate is tailored to your specific situation and collected in accordance with both federal law and hospital policy.

Please Note: You may receive a phone call from a Gritman Medical Center representative regarding pre-payment for certain services. Please know those calls will include details of your specific procedure and are legitimate.

Pre-Payment Service Collections: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Will Gritman call me to arrange payment?
Yes. A member of the Gritman Medical Center Admitting Department may call you before your procedure to outline the costs associated with the procedure. Those calls are legitimate and will come from a Gritman Medical Center phone number.

The requested payment is an estimate. How will I know how much my final bill will be?
Every insurance plan is a little bit different. We can reliably estimate some services, but other services depend on the length of a procedure, the amount of blood or medication used, as well as many other factors. Those details are finalized with your insurance company prior to a final bill being sent.

Do estimates take into account how much of my deductible has been used?
Yes. Patient pre-payment estimates take into account your insurance benefits, the negotiated rate for your care, any remaining deductible, any remaining out-of-pocket expenses for your procedure, and an estimate of the cost of the procedure you have scheduled.

Why is Gritman requesting prepayment for these services?
The goal of these services is to ensure transparency in billing, provide awareness of the cost of services, and allow for financial assistance options. Gritman collects these prepayments in accordance with your insurance plan, federal law and hospital policy. We have found that it is best to address these issues up front so that there are no surprises.

Can I get a physical copy of my procedure estimate?
Yes

Does this requested payment include all services?
Payment estimates are for the hospital only. They do not include reading fees by the physician, anesthesia costs and some other factors associated with hospital procedures. These costs will be explained to you as part of your pre-payment phone call.

I am unable to pay ahead of my procedure. What options do I have?
Gritman offers financial assistance and support through Patient Financial Counselors. Please consult with our patient assistance resources. Learn about our Financial Assistance Program. Call 208-883-2224 for more information.

What happens if I am not able to pay for services?
You will always have access to emergency care regardless of your ability to pay. Emergency care is provided without delay or demand for up-front payment in accordance with the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA).

What kind of payment methods are accepted?
Gritman accepts Visa, MasterCard, Check, Cash, Medical Savings Card and can work with you on a payment plan.
