Primary Care Provider Building a Strong Connection with Patients

Dr. Cameron Jones Joins Westside Clinic

Dr. Cameron Jones enjoys being able to work with patients and involve them in decisions about their health.

“I try to have a patient-centered process,” the Primary Care Provider said. “I take research into account but also what the patient thinks and what their values are so we can heal the whole person.”

Dr. Jones is now seeing patients at Gritman’s Moscow Family Medicine Westside clinic. He treats a full range of Family Medicine conditions, from wellness visits to acute care problems across the lifespan. He also intends to work in the Gritman Medical Center Emergency Department and on the Medical-Surgical floor.

“I came to Moscow because it is such a fantastic group of providers in a thriving and tight-knit community. I am thrilled to be a part of this community and to build a strong connection with my patients.” – Dr. Cameron Jones

“I came to Moscow because it is such a fantastic group of providers in a thriving and tight-knit community,” he said. “I am thrilled to be a part of this community and to build a strong connection with my patients.”

Being a primary care provider means treating everything from sports medicine to basic psychiatric care to pediatrics to basic pain management. Taking care of families in a comprehensive way is important to him because he’d want the same exceptional care for his family. In addition to spending time with his wife and children, Dr. Jones enjoys being active, enjoying the outdoors and playing sports.

“I grew up in a small town and a farming community,” he said. “I know the differences of health care in a small town than in something that’s more urban or suburban. I think I have a good connection to patients and what they value.”

Born in southeast Idaho, Dr. Jones completed both his residency in Family Medicine and a fellowship in Rural Medicine at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene – including rotations at Clearwater Valley Health in Orofino. He is certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine and completed medical school at the University of Iowa College of Medicine.

Dr. Jones prides himself on taking the time to listen and involve his patients in the decision-making process. He enjoys one-on-one conversations with his patients, he said, and involving them in their care is an important aspect of the process.

“Patients a lot of times know what they want, they know what they need,” he said. “I try to listen. I have a very open-ended listening type of approach.”

Working within the Gritman System, Dr. Jones can see patients for a variety of conditions and also refer for specialty care right in the community. Being able to follow up directly with specialists ensures his patients get the right care in a prompt manner.
