A Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Leo Chough is fellowship-trained in Sports Medicine and has experience working with athletes of all ages, from high school players to NFL team members. Board-Certified Sports Medicine Physician Dr. Shelley Ringo works with Primary Care Providers, Orthopedic Surgeons, Physical Therapists and Athletic Trainers with a focus on non-surgical treatment of musculoskeletal conditions.

Dr. Marvin Kym Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Marvin Kym has 30 years experience as an Orthopedic Surgeon both in private practice and with regional health systems. He has held privileges at Gritman Medical Center since 1994. Dr. Kym completed medical training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita. Dr. Kym is currently seeing patients at Gritman Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Leo Chough Orthopedic Surgeon

Dr. Leo Chough sees patients at Gritman Orthopedic Surgeons. He trained at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, and completed both his Internship in General Surgery and Residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He is Fellowship-Trained in Sports Medicine from Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia and Board-Certified in both Orthopedic Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.

Dr. Shelley Ringo Sports Medicine Physician

Dr. Shelley Ringo treats Family Medicine/Sports Medicine patients at Gritman Orthopedic Surgeons in Moscow. She provides non-operative management of musculoskeletal conditions, including caring for both acute and chronic injuries, acute fractures, osteoarthritis and concussions. She works collaboratively with the Gritman Orthopedic Surgeons team to support patients in the community.

Moscow is Dr. Ringo’s childhood home, and she is returning to give back to the community in which she grew up.

Daniel Turnblom, PA-C Certified Physician Assistant

Idaho native Daniel Turnblom received a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. Board-Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Turnblom returns to Idaho after working most recently in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Jason Phillips, PA-C Certified Physician Assistant

Jason Phillips is a Certified Physician Assistant at Gritman Orthopedic Surgeons. He attended graduate school at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. He is Board-Certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants.

He sought a career in medicine because he had a desire to help treat wounded soldiers, starting out as a medic in the United States Army.

Absolutely supberb! The staff was exceptional - friendly, knowledgeable, timely, helpful, professional. Dr. Chough is truly exceptional! He is a skilled surgeon and also has amazing people skills - a rarity in my experience with surgeons! I could not be anymore impressed or grateful! His PA-C Jason is also excellent. Great people skills, good humor and makes each visit a real pleasure as well as sharing his knowledgeable! I’ve never experienced a better educated team than Dr. C and Jason! Also, the staff at Gritman Medical, where my surgery was done were wonderful too! I’m healing well and appreciate everyone who helped make my healing possible.

Dr. Kym has done two knee surgeries on me, one was a total replacement. He and his staff are awesome. The stay at the hospital was better than I had hoped. The staff there was phenomenal and made it very comfortable. I would recommend them for any orthopedic needs.

Dr. Chough and his great team replaced my hip 3 months ago. i loved the way the doctor explained everything and was very patient with my questions. Team at the hospital were wonderful. Made me comfortable and less anxious in the pre opt time and afterwards. Hats off too for the Gritman Pain Clinic team who helped me on this journey. A warning: at 3 weeks or so you might feel really good - don't go out and attend a two day conference, do a long car trip or weed wack or other gardening. Could set you back awhile. Listen to the doc and his team and take it slow. They really know what they are doing and what concerns we should have. Things going really great now.....cms

Dr. Kym has replaced both of my hips. Excellent recovery. Listened to concerns and answered questions with openess. Helped walk me through exercises specifically to particular issues with my body. Gritman is very lucky to have him and his years of experience as part of their surgical team.

Had multiple services performed, from diagnosis to surgery. Entire team is phenomenal from start to Finnish. Incredibly hospitable staff, and even the surgeon comes across as warm and genuine. My surgery, has virtually no scar and fortunately for them, I am looking at at least another surgery with this team. Would not have it done anywhere else. Dr. Kym and the nurse Laura thank you for your genuine kindness and support 🙂

I went to Dr. Kym for my shoulder after moving from Boise. There I had a wonderful team of sports medicine doctors who treated me extremely well, from PT to major surgery. I wasn't expecting to find the same level of care but I found just that with Dr. Kym. He is very friendly and takes time to talk to you about all your options. He even drew out things on a white board and used bone models to explain everything scientifically, which is far more than any surgeon I've worked with. The surgery was successful and the recovery easy. My wife and parents are now seeing him and I wouldn't hesitate to send many more his way. Thanks to Dr. Kym and his great staff!

I send Dr Kym when he did both knees in 2019 in Lewiston Idaho. I can say it was well worth all effort. He told me he would do the knees but I had to promise to try to get my weight down from 310 and I can tell him that because of my mobility I am now down to 213lbs and slowly still dropping. I have dropped long acting insulin, no more ozimpic and a a1c of 6.0 .Thank you so much for the great knees . I can hunt, hick , and do some things I thought I had lost for good .

I broke my femur in June 2021 and underwent surgery to attach a plate and several screws to my thighbone and knee. The operation was not performed by Dr. Kym. Three screws near my knee were the cause of constant pain and discomfort, and I decided to have the hardware removed. The orthopedic surgeon who repaired by femur was reluctant to remove the plate/screws, so I contacted Dr. Kym. On August 14, 2023, Dr. Kym removed the hardware - I felt immediate relief! The 45-minute day surgery (Gritman Medical Center. Moscow) was a breeze; I was admitted to the hospital at 6:00 AM; the surgery took place at 7:30 on the dot; and I was discharged before 11:00 AM. Five stars!

Best experience ever with a Ruby She was so sweet and accommodating of my style and went far above and beyond my expectations. Making me feel welcome, seen, listened to; she was so gentle with the much needed arm cleaning and application of this work of art. She even offered me glitter when I asked for a “very loud rainbow cast”, simply because she could tell I needed it. She didn’t make me feel self conscious in any way about me smelling weird and having dirt between my fingers from having the temporary gigantic cast I received from the ER. Give this girl a raise, she deserves it and give her commission on the glitter casts too because she knows what she’s doing, she does it well and is humble but extraordinary artist. I would love to have more people like Ruby involved in my treatment squad. Maybe consider cloning her or at the very least she could be Chief Officer of Glitter and Glamour.

Staffs are very nice and willing to help as much as they can. Dr Kym was so nice to explain about the shoulder impingement syndrome to me. Facility is brand new building and the equipments are new.
