Turnblom Joins Gritman Orthopedic Surgeons
It was through his own athletic injuries that Dan Turnblom sharpened his interest in orthopedics.
Turnblom, now a Certified Physician Assistant, suffered a knee injury as a high school athlete growing up in Boise, and the interactions he had with surgeons and physical therapists as part of his recovery provided the boost he needed to make medicine his career.
“The thing that I love most about this job and this profession is helping people get back to living their best lives,” he said. “To help them get back to the things they like to do to enjoy life.”
“My goal is to get them the best possible care. I just want them to have the best experience,” he said.
The practice specializes in conditions including:
- ACL Reconstruction
- Meniscus Repair
- Rotator Cuff Repair
- Orthopedic Trauma
- Fracture Repair
- Joint Replacement
Turnblom has helped patients with both minor and devastating injuries get back to their preferred activities – be it mountain biking, snow skiing or even walking the dog – for more than a decade. Sometimes, that means getting people back to a life without pain. Turnblom remembers a patient once remarking about not having knee pain for the first time in years after a knee replacement surgery.
“It’s a team effort – it’s not just me,” he said. “To be part of the process and help them enjoy life is a neat thing.”
Raised in Boise, Turnblom graduated from Boise State University and received a Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. Board-Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, Turnblom returns to Idaho after working most recently in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Turnblom is eager to be a part of the broader Gritman System, with integrated Physical Therapy, Diagnostic Imaging and Primary Care all a part of Gritman’s orthopedic program. Gritman’s Total Hip Replacement and Total Knee Replacement programs are certified by The Joint Commission, ensuring the highest standards of quality and patient outcome.
“Having access close to home is huge,” he said. “Being able to regularly check in with your Physical Therapist and other members of the treatment team makes the whole treatment plan and process much simpler and easier.”
